The last few months have been a whirlwind of activity. The trip to CineMart was amazing. My newest project entitled HIM ended up winning the ARTE Cinema Award for most promising project. Thanks to the award, the meetings that I had at CineMart and last fall at Power to the Pixel – HIM is off to a great start. There are some other exciting things brewing around HIM but it’s too early discuss.

Here’s what Screen International had to say:
As a feature film, HIM will be based on Weiler’s original screenplay about a sleep virus that strikes the adults of a small town, leaving the youth to fight for their lives. To complement the feature, Weiler and his company Seize The Media (STM) will create an alternate reality game, episodic shorts for the web or mobile platforms, interactive live events and an online graphic novel.

This coming weekend I’m headed back to SXSW. I’ll be speaking on a panel entitled “You’re Living in Your Own Private Branded Entertainment Experience.” If you happen to be in the area make sure to stop by and say hello.

In a few weeks when the Spring issue of Filmmaker Magazine hits newsstands it will mark the debut of my column Culture Hacker. For this issue I cover emerging revenue models based on torrent trackers and how some filmmakers are making money by giving their films away for free.

INTERVIEW: If you happen to be in earshot of BBC radio today – I’ll be doing a radio interview about the future of entertainment along with Peter Buckingham from the UK Film Council.

In WBP news: The Workbook Project will be making an announcement at SXSW around a special new series that we’ve been producing. The series is made possible thanks to the global WBP community. It starts airing on a device near you later this month. More details soon…

Finally, DIY DAYS returns this summer with a number of events in various cities. Things kick off in Philadelphia on July 11th. We’re currently looking for speakers. If you’re interested in participating please drop us a line.
